Facts and challenges in Prague
Flight: from the airport are beside taxis (550 crowns), public busses to one of the metro stations:
- Bus 119: Prague Airport - Nádraží Veleslavín (Metro line A)
- Bus: 100: Prague Airport - Zličín (metro line B) ticket: 32 Czech Crowns
- Airport express: Prague Airport - Prague Main Train Station (Metro line C/B) ticket: 60 Czech Crowns.
Change money: in Czech Republic we pay with Czech Crown (Koruna), best changing is in banks or at the airport. Downtown change offices charge commissions/taxes/%...so keep an eye on that and check the current change rates.
Public transport system in town is very well organized. There are three Metro- lines (A, B, C), many trams and buses (day and night).
A 30 min. ticket for 24 crowns, 60 min. 32 crowns; Tickets are sold in Tabaco shops or in Metro stations.
Taxi: Czech taxi drivers are always happy to charge strangers a high tribute through the forest. So, make sure how much you pay before you enter a taxi, or take the save way of calling: AAA Taxi, Taxi Praha.
Hotels: if you look for your accommodation, you can use booking.com or a server in your country. There is also a big offer of Airbnb places. Near to the conference place search in Prague 1. However, that could be more expensive, as said public transport is easy.
The conference is 4 minutes walk from Charles Bridge and a 3 minutes from Old Town Square. Near metro stations: Mustek (B line) or Starometske namesti (A line).
Souvenirs: If you want to bring a czech souvenir to your back to your friends and families, make sure it is Czech made, often you get Russian or China made stuff.
If you want to walk deeper, search for: Jára Cimrman, Laterna magica, Opera Rusalka (from Antonín Dvořák), Pan Tau or Krteček (animated Mole) and Czech Beer!
